Explore your stay

In 2017 we bought the wreck that was on this site. We designed a new ship to live on. By the end of 2018, all permits had been obtained.

The shipyard started construction in mid-2019.

In the spring of 2020, the boat was moved to the Panamakade. By then we had already been working on the construction site for months: on the construction of pipework and floors.

In December 2020 we moved on board, the boat was far from ready. The B&B was only able to open in March 2023, finally finished.

We’ve built a dream completely sustainable, with our own hands.

We would like to welcome you so that you as well can enjoy life on the water in Amsterdam.

About the area

The Eastern Harbour District used to be the cargo port of Amsterdam. In the 1990's it was transformed into a city district with a lot of housing, offices, facilities, shops and restaurants. It is world famous for its urban plan and architecture.

Nowadays it is a fairly quiet neighborhood with alternating owner-occupied and rental properties. Lots of water (of course) with matching recreation in the summer.

    Wonderful houseboatShow original

We spent three nights in the houseboat and were in Amsterdam for King's Day. The boat leaves nothing to be desired, and the included bikes are perfect for exploring the city. Gijs is a very accommodating host; there were coffee capsules in the room and a selection of local beers in the fridge. We would highly recommend the accommodation to anyone.

    Beautiful

Amazed such clever design has gone into making such a beautiful, suitable space. Thank you for having us and the offer of using the bikes. We will definitely come back.

Not super chilly on our early November trip, but the boathouse really was warm and cosy. Super comfy bed and star gazing window. Kitchen was perfect for coffee, and full-size under-counter fridge with microwave, so helpful for those worried about keeping things cool. Very clean, and we didn't feel we'd wake you if we came back late. Own entrance makes this perfect.

Close to a tram that takes less than 5 minutes to get to Central Station, 30 minutes total with a slow walk. Thank you so much for hosting us and for supplying beer, coffee, and milk, really making our stay super easy. We hope we will be back soon. Danae and Ben

We will be back :)Show original

The houseboat was a dream. Great, quiet location, but still easy to get to everything in Amsterdam. Very short distances by bike and tram. The houseboat itself is well equipped and very beautiful. We would have loved to stay much longer! The host was very nice and flexible.

    Top notch room

Beautiful room inside a boat. Everything you need is there. Small bathroom, but well organized and the shower is really nice. The bed is big and super comfy. Easy communication with the owner, that is quick to answer. We had a little problem, fixed it without problems. 30/40 min walking from the center, but close to the bus/tram station. Really one if the best rooms we've had.

    perfect stay

We spent four wonderful days on Gijs' houseboat. Everything was very modern. There was even enough coffee with milk and a few drinks to last us. We didn't need the bikes, but they were there. The interior is very modern and stylish. The boat is bright. Oh, and it doesn't wobble. :) Two supermarkets are located near tram 7. There's also a bakery and a café. If you walk a little further, you'll find a great Syrian and an Indonesian restaurant. Or you can cycle there. We'd love to come back. Rose & Ralph
